Microneedling

Microneedling — also called skin needling, collagen induction therapy or dermal needling — uses a precise grid of very fine needles to trigger your skin's own collagen and elastin renewal. It's one of the most effective, evidence-based treatments for acne scarring, texture, fine lines and overall skin renewal.

Treatment time 60–75 minutes
Sessions 3–6, 4–6 weeks apart
Downtime 24–48 hours
Pricing From $195

What microneedling does

A fine grid of very small needles creates controlled micro-channels in the skin's surface. These tiny, controlled micro-injuries switch on the skin's natural healing response, which lays down fresh collagen and elastin over the following weeks. The visible result is firmer, smoother, more even-textured skin — and, over a course of treatments, a real reduction in the depth of acne scarring and fine lines.

It's a well-established, evidence-based treatment. Lorraine uses medical-grade microneedling equipment with sterile, single-use cartridges, and adjusts the needle depth to suit each area of the face and the specific concern being treated.

What microneedling treats

  • Acne scarring — rolling, boxcar and atrophic (depressed) scars respond particularly well.
  • Fine lines around the eyes, forehead and mouth.
  • Enlarged or visible pores and uneven, rough texture.
  • Mild to moderate stretch marks.
  • Dull, tired skin — as regular renewal and glow maintenance.

What to expect

A single session takes about 60–75 minutes including topical numbing time. Most clients see noticeable improvement after three sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart; acne scarring typically needs 4–6 sessions for the best result. Downtime is mild — pink, slightly tight skin for 24–48 hours (like mild sunburn), with light flaking around days 3–5. Most clients are back to normal the next day with light makeup.

How it fits with your other skin treatments

Microneedling is often combined with medical-grade peels for pigmented marks, and it's the core treatment for acne scarring and a key part of restoring glow and firmness. Lorraine will map out the right combination and rhythm for your skin at consultation.

What to expect

  1. Skin assessment

Lorraine assesses your skin, your concern (scarring, texture, fine lines) and your history, then recommends the number of sessions and whether to combine microneedling with peels. Active breakouts need to be settled before treatment begins.

  2. Numbing

A topical numbing cream is applied for 20–30 minutes so the treatment stays comfortable. Most clients describe the sensation as a light prickling.

  3. The treatment (60–75 minutes)

Lorraine works methodically across the treatment area with the medical-grade device at the right depth for each zone, followed by a soothing, hydrating finish and SPF.

  4. Healing (24–48 hours)

Expect pink, slightly tight skin for a day or two, with light flaking around days 3–5. Keep it hydrated, avoid direct sun and active skincare for a few days, and use SPF. Full written aftercare is provided.

  5. A series for scarring

Collagen builds gradually — most clients need 3–6 sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart, with visible improvement usually clear from the third session. Each session is booked and paid on its own.

FAQs

Questions about Microneedling

Does it hurt?

Topical numbing is applied 20–30 minutes before treatment, which keeps it comfortable. Most clients describe a light prickling or scratching feeling. Some areas — the forehead and around the nose — feel a little more intense than others.

How many sessions will I need?

For general skin maintenance and glow, around 3 sessions to start. For acne scarring, typically 4–6. For fine lines, 3–4. Lorraine recommends a plan at consultation based on your specific skin.

Is there downtime?

Mild. Pink, slightly inflamed skin for 24–48 hours (like mild sunburn), with light flaking around days 3–5. Most clients are comfortable going to work the next day with light makeup.

Is it safe for darker skin tones?

Yes — microneedling is one of the safer resurfacing treatments for richer and darker skin tones because it doesn't use heat or light. Lorraine will discuss any specific considerations at consultation.

How much does it cost?

Microneedling starts from $195 per session, and the best results come from a short series spaced 4–6 weeks apart. Each session is booked and paid on its own — there's no package. Lorraine gives you a clear plan and price once she's assessed your skin.
