In short: Most people find eyebrow tattoo very comfortable — a light scratching or tingling rather than real pain, usually rated 1–3 out of 10. A topical numbing cream is applied before and during the treatment, so many clients relax completely throughout.
What eyebrow tattoo feels like
Whether you have feather (hair-stroke) brows or powder brows, the pigment is placed into the upper layers of the skin with a fine needle. With numbing, most clients describe a gentle scratching or light tingling — many say it's more relaxing than they expected, and some drift off during the appointment.
Brows generally feel less sensitive than lip blush, because the brow area has fewer nerve endings than the lips. On a one-to-ten scale, most clients place brow tattoo at a one to three.
How numbing works
Lorraine applies a topical numbing cream before starting and tops it up during the session once the skin is open and able to absorb it. This means comfort improves as the treatment goes on. The first few strokes, before the second layer of numbing takes effect, are usually the most noticeable — and even those are mild.
Feather vs powder — is one more comfortable?
There's very little difference in comfort between hair-stroke and powder techniques. Powder brows use a gentle shading motion; feather strokes are fine individual lines. Both are surface-level and both numb well.
Afterwards
Brows may feel slightly tender and look bolder for a few days, a bit like a mild graze. This settles quickly, and you'll be given aftercare to keep the area comfortable while it heals over the following week.
How to make it easier
Skip caffeine on the morning of your appointment, avoid blood-thinning pain relief (like aspirin or ibuprofen) beforehand, arrive well-rested, and remember you can ask Lorraine to pause at any point. Most clients are surprised by how easy it is.
