About scar camouflage
Scar camouflage is part of Lorraine's paramedical practice — some of the most meaningful work she does. Using carefully colour-matched pigment, she blends a mature scar visually into the skin around it. It doesn't erase the scar, but for the right scars it softens the contrast dramatically, which for many clients is the final step in moving past whatever caused it.
Common areas Lorraine works on include mastectomy scars (often combined with areola restoration), breast reduction and lift scars, abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) scars, surgical scars from orthopaedic and other procedures, self-harm scars, and stretch marks.
Who it's for
- Anyone with mature, stable scars they'd like to make less visible.
- Mastectomy and reconstruction clients — often alongside areola restoration.
- Post-surgical scarring — abdominoplasty, breast lift, orthopaedic and more.
- Clients with self-harm scars seeking visual recovery.
- Mature, stable stretch marks.
Honest expectations, always
The most important part of any scar consultation is an honest conversation. Scar camouflage softens the visual contrast between the scar and the surrounding skin — it does not make the scar invisible. Results depend on the scar's colour, texture and maturity. Lorraine assesses each case individually and will tell you plainly what's realistic before anything is booked.
Timing matters
Scars must be fully mature and stable before treatment — generally at least 12 months for surgical scars, and often longer for burns or severe trauma. A scar that's still pink or changing is still healing and isn't ready. Colour is built gradually over 2–4 sessions to match your skin as closely as possible.
What to expect
-
Complimentary consultation
An unhurried, private conversation about the scar, how it healed, and what you'd like. Lorraine assesses maturity, colour and texture, discusses honestly what camouflage can achieve for your scar, and answers every question. No pressure to book.
-
Colour matching
Bespoke pigment is mixed to your specific skin tone and tested — realistic colour-matching is the single biggest factor in a natural result, and it can only be done in person.
-
The sessions (60–90 minutes each)
Pigment is layered gradually across 2–4 sessions spaced several weeks apart, building the blend slowly rather than all at once. Scarred skin often has reduced sensation; topical numbing is used.
-
Healing and settling
Colour appears stronger immediately and softens as it heals over the following weeks. Full written aftercare is provided, and the result is reviewed before the next layering session.
-
Long-term
Camouflage pigment fades gently over time and can be refreshed. Each session is booked and paid on its own — there's no package.
